US envoy meets relatives of missing persons

US Ambassador Julie Chung who is on a visit to the Northern Province, met the relatives of those who went missing during the conflict period, in Jaffna, on Tuesday (26).

According to the relatives of the missing persons, the US Ambassador has said that she was able to understand the situation of relatives of those who went missing during the conflict period.

Relatives of the missing said the US Ambassador had acknowledged that justice should be carried out for the disappearances during the war against terrorism.

The US Ambassador who is on a visit to Jaffna also had a discussion with the representatives of the Jaffna District Muslim Forum regarding the problems of the Muslim people in the country.

It is reported that the US Ambassador also discussed the current economic and political situation with the representatives of the Muslim people.
