Water Supply Minister Vasudeva Nanayakkara said yesterday (16) that he would not allow the water tariff to be increased while he remained the minister in charge.
He was addressing a media briefing held by eleven political Party leaders representing the government, at the N.M. Perera Centre in Borella yesterday.
Nanayakkara said that at a time when the people are facing an economic crisis, they are getting ready to increase the water tariff and put more pressure on the people.
The Minister said that he would not work with a government that is bound by the conditions of the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
Vasudeva Nanayakkara who said that he would decide in the future whether to stay in the government or not, added that it would take only a minute for him to write his resignation letter.
