Warrant issued for violation of Court orders

The Fort Magistrate’s Court yesterday ordered to issue warrants against the sixth suspect, Chinthana Pradeep Rajapakse, who did not appear in Court when the case against 17 suspects including actor Jehan Appuhami was called for violating the Court orders by carrying out an illegal demonstration from the Kelaniya University on August 19 last year and disobeying the Police order.

When the case related to the incident was called in Open Court, warrants were issued on a university student who was released on bail and who did not appear in Court yesterday.

Actor Jehan Appuhami, who was released on bail in connection with the incident also did not appear in Court and the lawyer representing the suspects informed the Court that he was unwell. Fifteen suspects appeared when the case was called in Open Court.

The Magistrate who ordered the case to be called again on August 18 ordered the Police to report the progress of the investigation to Court on that day.
