The National Water Supply and Drainage Board (NWSDB) yesterday said water tariffs will be revised from today. According to the NWSDB sources the water tariff will be increased by more than 30 percent.
The relevant gazette notification relating to the new price hike was issued. The General Manager of the NWSDB mentioned that the water tariffs are increased by around 30 to 50 percent depending on the monthly usage, with effect from yesterday (3).
However, he also mentioned that low-income families are not affected by the tariff revision. Besides, Samurdhi or Aswesuma beneficiaries, religious places, hospitals, schools and Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) will not be affected by the water tariff hike.
