We will be happy to meet COPE Chairman in Court – NPP

National People’s Power (NPP) member Sunil Handunnetti on Saturday said that the party will take appropriate action if the newly appointed COPE Chairman Rohitha Abeygunawardena MP will keep to his words and file a case against fellow party member Vijitha Herath for the alleged comments he made referring to the Kalutara District MP.

“We have seen in the media of Rohitha Abeygunawardena shouting he will take legal action against Vijitha Herath. We are waiting for that to happen. We are ready to prove the allegations. It would be better if the case is taken up early. We have plenty of evidence to prove who he is. We would like to meet in court,” he said addressing a public event in Galle.

He is a person who has avoided courts and the Bribery Commission. We would very much like to meet him in court.The COPE committee is responsible to the people for safeguarding the government’s money. Therefore, we prefer to speak in court whether those things are true or not,” he added.
