
Showers are expected at times in the Northern, North-Central, Eastern, Uva, and Central provinces, as well as the Hambantota district, the Department of Meteorology said.
Fairly heavy showers exceeding 75 mm are likely in parts of Uva Province and in the Batticaloa, Ampara, Hambantota, and Nuwara-Eliya districts.
Showers or thundershowers may develop in other areas after 2:00 p.m., with localized rainfall exceeding 50 mm in some places.
Fairly strong winds ranging from 30 to 40 kmph are expected over the Northern and North-Western provinces, and in the Matale, Trincomalee, and Anuradhapura districts.
Morning mist is likely in parts of the Western, Sabaragamuwa, and Central provinces, as well as the Galle, Matara, and Badulla districts.
The public is advised to take precautions against localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
Showers are expected in sea areas off the coast from Pottuvil to Kankasanthurai via Batticaloa and Trincomalee. Showers or thundershowers are likely elsewhere in the evening or night.
Northeasterly winds at 30–40 kmph, increasing to 45–50 kmph in coastal areas from Colombo to Mullaitivu via Puttalam and Kankasanthurai, and from Matara to Pottuvil via Hambantota.
