Welipenna Interchange submerged

The Welipenna Interchange on the Southern Expressway has been temporarily closed to traffic due to flooding caused by incessant rainfall in the region. The Matugama-Aluthgama main road in Welipenna is currently submerged under more than four feet of water, and authorities have indicated that the flood levels may rise further if the rainfall continues.
