Wesley clinch Blaze Trophy with 30-15 win

The rugby match between Kingswood College and Wesley College in the Dialog Schools Rugby League 2023 – Division 1 – Segment A was played last evening at Bogambara Stadium, this game is annually played for the L.E. Blaze Trophy which was the 36th encounter.

Wesley College ruggerites led by Kaweesh Jayman with their mobile pack gave a superb display and showed their all round superiority, to score a convincing win by 30 points off one goal, four tries and a penalty to 15 points off a goal a try and a penalty.

It was the Kingswoodains who scored first through a penalty from their onwards Wesley side took control and scored 17 points to lead in the first half by 17-03. Soon after half time the Wesleyites put over a penalty to make the score 20 points to 3. Soon after this saw Kingswood doing a good job by scoring a try and was goaled to make the score 20-10. Once again with a good move Wesley were able to score another try and make the score 25-10. Again both teams scored a try each to make the final score 30-15.

It was the Wesley College side’s superb team work and attacking rugby which helped them to beat the knowledgeable Kingswowod College side that have some top class well built players.
