Western Province Governor to create efficient public service
Leading businessman and Chairman, Expolanka Group Hanif Yusoof who took office at Battaramulla as the new Governor Western Province, last week said that he is looking to create a more efficient public service.
“When I recently visited the UAE public office for a personal matter at Dubai courts, first they offered me a cup of tea and biscuits and then good services and this example should be followed by the Sri Lanka public service.”
The President also said that they have no objection for the ‘rich’ to be more ‘richer’ (after paying all the taxes) but should ensure that the ‘poor’ are not made ‘poorer’. “I was very touched by this remark.”
“Hence when President Anura kumara Dissanayake offered me this post as the Governor of Western Provincial Council I took it.”
“One reason for a country to have an economic crisis is also having bad public service. He also requested me to bring about a difference for the country and the people and help to create a public service sans corruption and bribery.
He said that as a businessman who took his company to 40 countries he knows how to move with people and get things done. “Hence I request all the public servants of the Western Provincial Council to support me to create better and more productive public service to the people. Together let’s show the public a change.”
He also said he will look at digitising many areas.
