Wife remanded over husband’s death

Pulasthipura Police said that a husband who used to constantly assault his wife under the influence of liquor was allegedly stabbed to death by her.

The deceased was a 31-year-old father of one from Pulasthigama. According to reports, the deceased was an alcoholic who always came home drunk and abused his wife. On the day of the incident too, he had come drunk and assaulted his wife causing injuries to her. The wife in self defence had attacked the husband with a knife resulting in his death.

The 21-year-old wife who is alleged to have stabbed her husband with a knife was arrested and produced before the Polonnaruwa Magistrate’s Court. She was remanded until April 21. Pulasthipura Police are conducting further investigations.
