Woman abducted for fraud found in house

Marawila Police said that a woman who had been taking hundreds of thousands of Rupees from several people promising to provide job opportunities in Italy, but dodged employment, who was forcibly abducted and kept in a house was found on September 25 morning.

At the same time, two women and two men who were said to have kidnapped the woman were also arrested and a Chinese-made pistol was also found in the house, Police said.

According to a complaint made on September 25, a person who runs a vegetable shop in Marawila Katuneriya area has been abducted by some group. According to the investigation conducted by Police, the phone calls of the abducted woman were checked and it was discovered that she was in a house in Palangathure area of Kochchikade and she was found after a raid.

The suspects arrested by Police have informed that the woman took Rs. 1.2 Mn each to send two of the children to Italy and she kidnapped her to get the money back because she was dodging and not sending them to Italy.

Investigations are being conducted regarding how they got hold of the illegal pistol.
