Woman cries foul over falling dentures, seeks justice with police
A news was reported from the Borella Police where a woman arrived at the Borella Police Station OIC Janaka Vithanage’s room carrying a pair of dentures asking for justice, stating that she had collected money little by little and bought a pair of dentures for Rs. 53,000 but that it lasted only five months before it fell into her basin of gram.
She had said that she was 58 years old and stated “Sir, we are women, just because we sell gram, it does not mean that we do not want to look good. This is not money that was stolen, I earned it
with my sweat and effort. I waited for so long to get this pair of dentures made.”
“Sir, they charged me Rs. 53,000 for this. Apart from that I look like a she-devil.It was when I looked in a mirror that I saw. This pair of dentures was fixed by sharpening the only few teeth I had. They have not used nails, Sir.”
“These people who did this to me should be cursed,” saying this she had opened her mouth and showed the OIC.
Since the OIC was bewildered as the woman was crying and repeating facts about a pair of dentures, he had attempted to sort out the matter by inquiring into each and every fact.
The woman who had lost her upper teeth had decided to visit a Dentist in the Borella area a few months ago and inquired about the cost to get a pair of dentures in order to improve her appearance. She had returned home after being told that it would cost Rs.53,000.
The woman who was engaged in a small business of selling boiled gram, had somehow earned that money amidst all the hardships she was facing and gone and obtained the dentures five
months ago, wanting to improve her looks.
While she had been selling the boiled gram, her pair of dentures had fallen into the basin of gram day before yesterday and she had set aside selling the gram, taken the pair of dentures and arrived at the police station and made this complaint, the police said.
The OIC of the Borella had paid careful attention and listened to her tale of woe and noted down the complaint and instructed a woman police constable to ask the Manager of the Dental Clinic to come to the police station and to inform the woman to bring the dentures and come on that dayas well.
