Woman dies after wasp attack in Tangamale
A 56-year-old woman, identified as Marimuthu Maheshwari, who was receiving in-patient treatment at the Diyatalawa Base Hospital after being attacked by wasps in the Tangamale area of Haputale, passed away last night, Police reported.
The incident occurred while the woman, along with a group of workers, was plucking tea leaves at the Tangamale Tea Estate belonging to the Agrapatana Plantation Company.
She was initially admitted to the Haputale District Hospital following the wasps attack but was later transferred to Diyatalawa Base Hospital for further treatment.
Police stated that investigations into the incident are being conducted under the supervision of Bandarawela Senior Superintendent of Police Pradeep Kalupahana, with Haputale OIC Inspector Sepala Rathnayake leading the inquiry.
