Young MP urges President to delay National Anti-Corruption draft Bill

A young Parliamentarian has requested President Ranil Wickremesinghe not to present the National Anti-Corruption draft Bill to the Cabinet.

The young MP, who has been in the spotlight recently, made this request amidst the backdrop of preparations being finalised to present the National Anti-Corruption Bill to the Cabinet within the next two weeks.

The MP made this appeal to President Wickremesinghe during a recent phone call, urging him to delay the presentation of the National Anti-Corruption Bill to the Cabinet until  the Presidential Election is over.

According to sources from the Presidential Secretariat, President Wickremesinghe is expected to discuss the MP’s request with senior government ministers and make a decision within the next two days.

Previously, during a media briefing on Cabinet decisions, it was announced that under President Wickremesinghe’s administration, the National Anti-Corruption Bill would be presented to the Cabinet and subsequently approved in Parliament.
