Zafarullah wins Singles title

Kandy Garden Club had its Annual Tennis Tournament held over the weekend at their tennis courts. As there were so many entries, the tournament was held in A and B categories.

Dr M W Zafarullah won the Singles title for the third year in succession by beating M A C Perera. He also went on to win the doubles title together with his partner Tissa Ratnayake. Fourteen-year-old Heshan Abeyratne became the runners-up against Chathurika Senanayake in a closely contested game in the B group.

Tissa Ratnayake was the tournament organizing secretary and the prizes were distributed by the Club President – Benny Perera.

Group A – Singles – Champion – Dr M W Zafarullah

Runners-up – Lalith Pathinayake (Senior DIG, Kandy Division)

Doubles – Champions – Dr. M W Zafarullah & Tissa Ratnayake

Runners-up – Ravu Ramanadhan & Chathurika Senanayake

Group B – Singles – Champion – Chathurika Senanayake

Runners-up – Heshan Abeyratne
