15-year-old school boy dies in lightning strike

A 15‑year‑old boy was killed last evening in the Agalawatta area of Kalutara after being struck by lightning, while his brother sustained injuries to his arm.

Family members said the lightning struck around 6.15 pm, and the boy was found thrown under the bed. 

His mother discovered him and rushed him to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The victim’s brother, who was also caught in the strike, has sustained injuries to his arm. (Newswire)
