24 couples arrested for misbehaving on beach

Police took 24 couples into custody for misbehaving in the Kalutara beach area. The couples were  released after being given a severe warning. This raid was conducted to prevent various abuses taking place in the Kalutara area on the instructions of Western Province Senior Deputy Inspector General of Police Deshabandu Thennakoon.

The couples were released with a stern warning that their misbehaviour may lead to various crimes and abuses.
