25 arrested for vices during Kandy Perahera

Kandy Police last Monday (21) arrested 25 persons who committed various offences. A person who

was selling alcohol at high prices near the Kandy Central Market while the alcohol outlets in Kandy were closed for the Esala Perahara is also among the arrestees.

Police said that the person, who sold alcohol at higher price, had eight bottles of alcohol in his possession. Police arrested a three-wheel driver in Ampitiya region while carrying a bottle of illicit liquor. Apart from this, Police have arrested 17 persons with drugs, cannabis and ICE.

Police said that a group of people who tried to rob in the middle of the traffic jam at Perahara road was also arrested.
