The Senior DIG further said a few Police teams were deployed to advise the group to refrain from protesting, taking into consideration the Coronavirus situation in the country.
The group however ignored their advice and continuously protested, adding that more Police teams were deployed and the individuals were subsequently arrested, he added.
He also noted that 10 vehicles that were part of the procession have also been seized.
Legal action would be taken against the group under the National Highways Act on charges of obstruction, being part of an illegal gathering and obstructing traffic along a main road, and under the Quarantine and Prevention of Diseases Ordinance.He further added that statements are being recorded from the arrestees before producing them before Court.
