Public Security Minister Tiran Alles yesterday instructed the Inspector General to remove the police officers who have been assigned to protect people and places that don’t require protection and assign them to the police stations.
At present, a group of around 5,400 police officers have been deployed for the security of people and places. The IGP has been issued specific instruction to carry out a proper assessment to ascertain whether such individuals and places require further protection from the police.
Minister Alles made this announcement at the Consultative Committee meeting of the Public Security Ministry held in the Parliamentary complex on Tuesday. It was stated that there is a shortage of officers in the police stations due to the large deployment of police officers to provide security to undesignated people and places.
