63% increase in dengue case numbers

Director General of Health Services Dr. Asela Gunawardena states that there has been a 63 percent increase in dengue cases in April this year compared to April 2022.Accordingly, he pointed out that 17,728   dengue cases have been reported in Sri Lanka so far this month alone.

He said that 27,814 dengue cases have been reported since the first of January this year.

Dr.Asela Gunawardena said that the highest number of dengue cases was reported in the country in 2017 and that a large number of dengue cases are also reported from the Colombo, Kalutara and Gampaha Districts of the Western Province as well as in the Trincomalee and Batticaloa Districts.
