70 poisoned in Haputale

70 labourers were hospitalized due to inhalation of poison, in Haputale police division yesterday (10) at around 10.30a.m., Police Media Unit told Ceylon Today Online. The incident occurred due to the application of pesticides to the tea estate they were working in.

The victims were rushed to Haputale and Diyathalawa hospitals. 35 victims have left after receiving treatments. Whilst 32 women and two men are still being treated at Haputale hospital, another woman is receiving treatments at Diyathalawa hospital.

Haputale Police is conducting further investigations.
