Mushroom poisoning in Payagala Police, 10 officers hospitalised

Payagala Police said that about ten officers of Payagala Police fell ill after consuming mushroom for dinner.

Police said that a group of officials including the Payagala Police’s Anti-Corruption Division OIC fell ill after eating the mushrooms.

Police also said that they ate a kind of mushroom that was grown behind the Police station for dinner on Wednesday (6) night and after that they developed symptoms including headache, dizziness and vomiting.

Seven officers have been admitted to the Kalutara Nagoda Teaching Hospital and three of them have been discharged by now. The Health Department is conducting tests regarding this mushroom. Payagala Police are conducting investigations.
