Senior Professor of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the University of Peradeniya Ashoka Dangolla said that the she-elephant Seetha was brought to Kandy yesterday (05) afternoon from Mahiyangana to facilitate treatment.
Seetha, who was brought from Mahiyangana to Kandy in a truck, is being kept in a private property in Gannoruwa.
Professor Dangolla said that while treating the injuries, the veterinarians observe the behaviour of the elephant daily and since it is difficult to do that while it is in Mahiyangana, they took steps to bring the elephant to Kandy.
The professor also stated that even though the elephant finds it difficult to walk, she is eating normally.
