Committee on High Posts appoints two Envoys among others

“The Committee on High Posts comprising of Chairman, Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardana, MP Johnston Fernando, MP Anura Priyadarshana Yapa and MP Dharmalingam Siddharthan met in Parliament recently, and approved seven appointments including an Ambassador, a High Commissioner, a Ministerial Secretary and four heads of Institutions,” said Parliament Secretary General Kushani Rohanadeera. The appointments are:

M.E.M. Weninger as Ambassador to Egypt.

W.M. Dharmapala as High Commissioner to the People’s Republic of Bangladesh.

H.M.B.P. Herath as Secretary to the Ministry of Tourism and Lands.

Major General (Retd) G.A. Chandrasiri as Chairman of Airports and Aviation Services (Sri Lanka) (Pvt) Ltd.

Dr. S.W.M. Hettige as the Chairman of the Sri Lanka Institute of Bio-Technology (Pvt) Ltd.

B.M.L Pathirana as Chairman of the Sri Lanka Press Council.

I.S. Wijesekara as Chairman of Sri Lanka State Plantation Corporation.
