Navy assists flood victims

Following adverse weather conditions prevailing in several parts of the country, the Navy has mobilized its flood relief teams in Akuressa, Thihagoda and Kamuburupitiya areas in the Southern Province as of Wednesday (4). These teams are engaged in providing assistance to the flood-affected in those regions.

Due to the flood situation in the Kamburupitiya area, Matara district on Thursday (5), caused by the overflowing of the Nilwala river and Kirambaara, the Navy teams are using dinghies to offer transportation to people struggling to meet their everyday needs.
