Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena said that officials should prepare and implement urban development plans without inconveniencing the public.
The Prime Minister mentioned this when the Maharagama Regional Coordination Committee met on Thursday (12). He emphasised that the Urban Development Authority (UDA) should prepare city plans giving priority to public convenience and development.
The Prime Minister pointed out that the Urban Development Authority should properly plan schools, hospitals, temples and public housing. The purchase of land or the allocation of land for various projects is not a duty assigned to the Urban Development Authority, the Prime Minister emphasised.
Prime Minister Gunawardena also took into account the situation caused by the invasive spread of salvinia in the Boralasgamuwa Lake and advised the officials to follow the example of the project being carried out by the Colombo Municipal Council using nanotechnology and to use it for the Boralesgamuwa Lake with the help of the universities.
