Showers or thundershowers will occur over most parts of the island after 2:00 p.m., the Meteorology Department says.
Accordingly, fairly heavy showers above 75 mm can be expected at some places in Uva, Central, Sabaragamuwa and Eastern provinces.
A few showers may occur in coastal areas of the western and southern provinces during the morning too.
Misty conditions can be expected at some places in Central, Sabaragamuwa and Uva provinces in the morning.
The general public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
Sea areas:
Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in the sea areas off the coast extending from Kankasanthurai to Matara via Mannar, Puttalam, Colombo and Galle, particularly in the evening or at night.
Winds will be southerly to south-westerly and wind speed will be 20-30 kmph.
Wind speed can increase up to 40kmph at times in the sea areas off the coast extending from Puttalam to Kankesanturai via Mannar.
The sea areas off the coast extending from Puttalam to Kankesanturai via Mannar will be moderate.
Temporarily strong gusty winds and very rough seas can be expected during thundershowers.
