MPs’ altercation inside House: Report to Speaker on Monday

The report recommending punishment to the State Minister and the two SJB MPs involved in the recent heated confrontation that occurred in Parliament is to be handed over to Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena next Monday (13).

The Committee appointed under the Chairmanship of Deputy Speaker Ajith Rajapaksa met for the third time yesterday to look into the matter and made decisions related to the preparation of the final report.

Accordingly, State Minister Diana Gamage and MPs Rohana Bandara Dissanayake and Sujith Sanjaya Perera will be banned from Parliament for a certain time. State Minister Piyal Nishantha de Silva also appeared before the Committee yesterday and gave evidence.

The incident between the three took place on the lower floor of Parliament on October 20.
