‘Chanaka’s’ murder trial fixed for Feb. 12, 2024

The indictment of four accused including underworld gang leader “Dematagoda Chaminda” for the alleged shooting death of a man in the Borella area in 2014, was yesterday fixed for trial on February 21, 2024, by the Colombo High Court Judge Navarathna Marasinghe.

The Attorney General had filed indictments in the High Court against four accused including Chaminda Ravi Jayanath alias “Dematagoda Chaminda” who is currently on death row, Sarath Bandara, Sumudu Dushmantha and Sameera Saranga, for the shooting death of H. Duminda alias “Chanaka” on August 1, 2014, to which all four accused had pleaded “Not guilty” to the charges.
