Chinese delegation arrives for South China Sea Round Table Discussion

A Chinese delegation headed by Master Yin Shun, Vice President of the Chinese Buddhist Association arrived in Sri Lanka yesterday morning to participate in the South China Sea Round Table Discussion. This conference has been held in China since 2014 and although many countries such as Thailand, Nepal and Myanmar had requested to hold the roundtable discussion this time, it is special that Sri Lanka gets the opportunity. A delegation of 500 prominent South Asian Buddhist monks is scheduled to visit Sri Lanka to participate in this conference.

Last year this conference was held in Cambodia. The teacher of the Vice President of the Chinese Buddhist Association passed away recently at the age of 103, and his ashes have been kept at the Hunupitiya Gangaramaya Temple for worship. Master Yin Shun, Vice President of the Chinese Buddhist Association said in a discussion with the Transport, Highways and Mass Media Minister Dr. Bandula Gunawardhana that due to this reason he feels Sri Lanka is his second home. Chinese nationals in the country and Chinese tourists visiting the country also come to the Gangaramaya Temple to pay respects.

A delegation comprising Ven. Dr. Kirinde Assaji Thera, Ven. Dr. Pallegama Rathanasara Thera, Chinese Ambassador Qi Zhenhong, Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena, Minister Dr. Bandula Gunawardhana and Sri Lankan Coordinator of the discussion Koshila Eratne were at the Bandaranaike International Airport VIP Terminal to welcome the Chinese delegation.
