Golfer Chalitha excels in Singapore tourney

Sri Lankan golfer Chalitha Pushpika has impressed once more, clinching the 14th spot at the Saujana Amateur Championship in Singapore. The tournament took place from December 11th to 13th at the Saujana Golf and Country Club’s Palm Course, featuring a total of 91 players who tackled the challenges of the course.

Pushpika displayed consistent performance throughout the three-day competition, finishing with an aggregate score of 227. This not only placed him in a respectable position but also highlighted his growing prowess on the international golfing stage.

Fellow golfer Uchitha Ranasinghe, participating in only his third overseas appearance, earned recognition by securing the 35th position with a total score of 237. Out of the 91 contenders, 51 players made the cut, emphasizing the competitiveness of the championship.

The spotlight of the tournament, however, shone on Malaysia’s Hariz Hezri, who secured his second consecutive victory. Following his recent triumph in the Malaysian Amateur Championship, Hezri emerged victorious in a playoff against Siwakorn Kriangkaron. This back-to-back success solidifies Hezri’s position in the golfing community as a notable contender.

The Saujana Amateur Championship not only highlighted the talents of Pushpika and Ranasinghe but also showcased the intense competition among the 91 players, all striving for success on the challenging golf course.
