SLIIT as a pioneer in higher education has commenced new admissions for its main intake 2024 offering diverse higher education pathways and gateway to a successful future.
SLIIT was founded in 1999 and is a Ministry of Education and University Grants Commission (UGC) approved Institute that stands as a symbol of excellence in private tertiary education.
Celebrating 25+ years, SLIIT is a member of the Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU) and the International Association of Universities (IAU) and is also the first Sri Lankan Institute to be accredited by the Institution of Engineering and Technology, UK.
SLIIT has officially placed in the Top 750 of the Asian higher education institutions in the QS Asia University rankings 2023 and is one of the few Sri Lankan universities included. The Institute produces highly employable graduates at all levels in IT.
SLIIT’s Computing programmes offer a comprehensive range of courses in Computer Science, Computer Systems Engineering, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Computer Systems & Network Engineering, Information Systems Engineering, Interactive Media, Cybersecurity and Data Science. These are designed to meet industry demands and equip students with the skills needed for cutting-edge technology and software development.
Offering a variety of engineering disciplines, the Faculty of Engineering provides programmes in Civil Engineering, Electrical & Electronic Engineering, Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering (Mechatronics) and Quantity Surveying. These programs blend theoretical mastery with practical, hands-on experiences, fostering a culture of innovation and honing problem-solving skills that propel our engineers to shape the world of tomorrow.
The SLIIT Faculty of Humanities and Sciences cover a spectrum of subjects, including Physical Sciences, Biological Sciences, English, Social Sciences, and Information Technology programs providing a well-rounded education, emphasizing critical thinking, communication skills, and scientific principles.
In addition, programmes in Biotechnology and Financial Mathematics and Applied Statistics are also offered together with a Higher Diploma in Nursing in collaboration with the Deakin University Pathway Programme. Focussed on creating visionary architects, the SLIIT School Architecture offers the BSc (Hons) degree in Architecture in collaboration with Liverpool John Moores University, UK. Redefining the academic learning experience for students, SLIIT recently opened a new expansive ‘Learning Commons’ Library at its Malabe Campus.
