General Secretary of Sri Lanka Freedom Party, and National Organiser of Podujana Eksath Peramuna MP Duminda Dissanayake, said a foundation was laid today for a new political journey. A large number of people have come to this place to mark a new page in the history of the alliance in this country. The Sri Lanka Freedom Party has always held a strong position in the history of alliances. Both Susil Premajayantha and Anura Priyadarshana Yapa representing the Sri Lanka Freedom Party have laid strong foundations in the coalition politics in this country. This is the biggest alliance in this country. This alliance formed by the Podujana Eksath Peramuna is a strong factor that will determine the future of the entire country. We can raise the country through this alliance formed today. Podujana Eksath Peramuna has given the courage to recover.

Sri Lanka Freedom Party Chairman Nimal Siripala de Silva said that the old alliance led by Podujana Eksath Peramuna is a camp that has brought the politics of this country to a critical point. It was decided to make the old alliance suitable for the modern era and fulfil the aspirations of the people. By changing the constitution and revising the legal conditions, we formed a new alliance. The political parties in Sri Lanka have always been under the grip of the party leader, so the democratic sacrifices that should be made for the people and the parties are always being avoided. Party politics was destroyed because the leaders of these political parties grasped the legitimate needs of the common people. The Sri Lanka Freedom Party can be shown as an example.

When the Sri Lanka Freedom Party was destroyed by its leader, the other members had to form a democratic alliance to enter politics. Politics cannot be done when a party is divided into pieces. In the past, the Sri Lanka Freedom Party held discussions with various groups and political parties in the Parliament.

An alliance was built that could unite all people regardless of caste and religion differences. The main objective of this alliance is to build a broad democratic discourse with broad political leadership without embarrassing the parties. Everyone can join us. We prepared a democratic space in this alliance so that the Sri Lanka Freedom Party has 25 percent and other parties have 75 percent.

“We discussed it at length. Since we have a democratic structure, all the leaders of the political parties in this country will join with us. Decisions about all areas such as economic, political, foreign policy etc. come before the people after a discussion of the leadership board.

We have secured a kind of democracy where anyone from any rank can rise to the top in our political camp. We have decided to support President Ranil Wikremesinghe at this moment, putting an end to habitual politics and raising the economy to a strong place,”he said.

Podujana Eksath Peramuna General Secretary Anura Priyadarshana Yapa, said a lot of time in the past had been allocated for a new political programme. The specialty of our alliance is to discuss with everyone through a leadership board.

We have a specialty of promoting democracy more broadly. In the political history of the country, the Sri Lanka Freedom Party has a legacy for securing public rights. We would like to declare that we are all dedicated to it at this time. Whatever alliance I lead, it is difficult to build this kind of broad political alliance without an MP. Nimal Lanza. We are all thankful for his immense sacrifice.

Since Maithripala Sirisena changed the future of the great party as well as our country, We changed our course. Our group has the ability to once again activate the democratic political process established by the former Prime Minister. Sirimavo Bandaranaike. At this moment, I would like to inform you with great pleasure that we are ready to build the fallen country of the future by securing the rights of the state. We are ready to provide the support of our alliance to President Wickremesinghe in the upcoming Presidential Election.
