STF arrest three in firearms and drugs scam

STF officers arrested three criminals who were preparing to rob a buyer whom they had summoned for a firearm deal.

STF officers on a tip-off, raided a house at Jaya Veediya, Wennappuwa, and arrested a man who was preparing to rob his buyer to whom he was about to sell a pistol for Rs. 250,000, yesterday.

The officers found that the suspect – a 40-year- old resident of Wennappuwa – was in possession of 12 grams and 800 milligrams of heroin.

On interrogation, the suspect had revealed that there were two others with whom he had long been committing thefts from those who came to them for firearm transactions.

STF officers got information of the whereabouts of the other two suspects who were residents of Wennappuwa, aged 44 and 45.

These two suspects were in the possession of 37 grams and 990 milligrams of heroin and a mobile phone which was used for drug dealing.

All three suspects were handed over to Wennappuwa Police.
