A minor earthquake in the ocean near Beruwala
Assistant Director of the Disaster Management Center Mr. Pradeep Kodippili said that there has been an earthquake of 3.7 magnitude in the sea near Beru.
Today (30 March) at around 1.02pm in the afternoon an earthquake has occurred in the ocean 37 kilometres from the coast of Beruwala. This tremor has occurred for about 30 seconds.However, it
is said that there is no risk of tsunami as a result of the earthquake.
According to the report, the tremors were felt in Kalutara, Beruwala and Panadura areas.
The tsunami Early Warning Centre has informed that there is no danger from this tremor and thatpeople should not create unnecessary panic.
