Actor Kamal Addararachchi to contest General Election

Actor Kamal Addararachchi will be contesting the upcoming General Election under the Second Generation (Devana Parapura) Party.

Addararachchi made this announcement during a press conference which was organised by the Second Generation Party yesterday (9) in Talawathugoda.

Speaking to the media, Addararachchi said: “Building a good Parliament is totally up to the people in the country. Let us break the tradition of bringing failed politicians back to the Parliament. Instead, let us elect a new team to the Parliament that can work cooperatively and intelligently. We can provide that required strength through the Second Generation Party. I also joined the Second Generation Party today to give them strength.”

Uvindu Wijeweera, the son of the late former leader of Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) Rohana Wijeweera, is the leader of the Second Generation Party.

Uvindu Wijeweera said: “If we send the same old thieves to the opposition, the country cannot develop. Therefore, let us fill the entire Parliament with people who love this country”.

Several civil organisations had joined the Second Generation Party yesterday where a convention was also signed.
