‘Adara Anthaya’, a new movie in the making

Director Asoka Athaudahetti, who directed the ‘Kandak Sema’ announced his next movie ‘Adara Anthaya’ starring Yashoda Kumarika Kavya, Janaka Kumbukage, Veena Jayakodi and Harsha Thennakoon Sunday (22).

There, the director Asoka Athaudahetti stated that, I waited for about four years before making a new movie after I directed ‘Kandak Sema’ because of several problems including the COVID situation.

After ‘Minnu’ and ‘Kandak Sema’, ‘Adara Anthaya’ is my third movie and this movie will be a different experience for the audience.

Due to financial problems, I put off making another movie after Kandak Sema, but my friend Janaka Kumbukage persuaded me to write the script.

In Sri Lanka, we don’t usually give the script to anyone, but once I finished this, I gave it to three individuals, and thanks to their suggestions, I was able to finish the script successfully.

There are five producers for this movie and the specialty is that this is their first project as producers. The main actor of the movie Janaka Kumbukage stated that, in a country like ours, there were many discussions about how to promote cinema and how to attract people to theatres. In the past, many producers collapsed, we discussed how to save the producers and the film industry and produce films of the highest quality. As a result, we will be able to create a movie that can touch the people’s hearts.

Main actress Yashoda Kumarika stated that, this is my second movie. I always dreamed of playing a role like this because I prefer to portray challenging characters. I am confident to put up a good performance for the director and audience.

Several people including veteran artiste Janaka Kumbukage, Veena Jayakodi, Harsha Thennakoon, Ravindra Guruge and young actress Yashoda Kumarika Kavya participated in this event.
