Adjournment Debate after President’s Address to House

Leader of the House and Education Minister Dinesh Gunawardena said that an Adjournment Debate will be held after President Gotabaya Rajapaksa’s address to the House at the commencement of Second Session of the Ninth Parliament on January 18.

Accordingly, the adjournment debate following the President’s address to the House will take place on January 19 and 20.This decision has been taken at a special Party Leaders Meeting held at the Parliamentary complex yesterday

Former Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe had called for an Adjournment Debate following the President’s address to the House next Tuesday, under Article 33(A) of the Constitution.

He had written to Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena and Minister Dinesh Gunawardena in this regard.
