Advanced Level Exams put off for December 4

Examinations Commissioner General Amith Jayasundara announced that the GCE Advanced Level Examination, postponed earlier due to adverse weather conditions, has been further rescheduled by three days. The examination will now recommence on December 4.

Speaking at a media briefing held at the Examinations Department yesterday (28), Jayasundara stated that the rescheduled exams will follow the existing timetable. On December 4, the first papers for Chemistry, Science for Technology, Drama and Theatre and Political Science (evening session) will take place.

Initially, the exams scheduled from November 27 to 29 were postponed due to inclement weather. Subsequently, the postponement period was extended until December 3.

The revised dates are as follows:

November 27 exams will now be held on December 21 (Saturday).
November 28 exams will be held on December 23 (Monday).
November 29 exams will be held on December 27 (Friday).
November 30 exams will be held on December 28 (Saturday).
December 2 exams will be held on December 30 (Monday).
December 3 exams will be held on December 31 (Tuesday).

The General Common Test, which all candidates are required to sit for, will be held on December 7 as per the revised schedule.

To ensure clarity and convenience for the candidates, printed copies of the updated timetable will be distributed at examination centres.The revised timetable will be printed in a different colour to distinguish it from the earlier version. Candidates will also be notified through media channels.

Jayasundara emphasized that this decision was made with the mental well-being of students in mind, ensuring that they can appear for the examination without undue stress or disruptions.
