AG tells Police to arrest those responsible for theft of golden bowl at Kataragama

The Attorney General (AG) has informed the Colombo Crime Division to investigate and arrest any suspects responsible for the disappearance of the golden bowl offered by a devotee to the historic Kataragama temple.

A few years ago, a golden bowl weighing thirty pounds (240 grams) had been offered by a devotee while the chief kapumahaththaya was in service, and the Kataragama Basnayaka Nilame had complained to the Colombo Crimes Division that it had gone missing. With the initiation of the investigation, a golden bowl made similar to the one offered by the devotee was kept at the temple. The Colombo Crimes Division had forwarded a file requesting the advice of the Attorney General.Investigations will be conducted on the advice of Colombo Crime Division Director, Assistant Superintendent Neville De Silva, by OIC, Chief Inspector Anslem de Silva, under Inspector S.P.G.J.Nishantha.
