The tusker Agbo has once again been shot at and injured, shortly after recovering from gunshot injuries, Wildlife authorities said. Wildlife Department Director of Health veterinarian Dr. Tharaka Prasad said that it is suspected that some person may have shot the elephant near the Vannammaduwa Lake in Thirappane a few days ago.
Dr. Prasad said that the bullet had hit the elephant’s abdomen and that the injuries caused by several bullets were not deep wounds. He further stated that currently, the veterinarians in charge of Anuradhapura Wildlife Zone are carrying out necessary treatments for Agbo.
This incident comes after Agbo was seriously injured due to a gunshot injury caused by a trap gun a few months ago.
