Air Force SC ‘A’ dished out a scintillating brand of fast open rugby to emerge champions of the 2021 Inter-Club Dialog Warrior Cup Rugby Sevens Tournament at the Police Park in Colombo yesterday.
The Airmen got over the final hurdle with an emphatic 24 points (three tries, three conversions and one penalty) to nil victory in the Cup final against Police SC. At half time the winners led 14-0.
Air Force SC throttled the opposition with their power and pace throughout the final, living up to their tag as favourites and executing their game plan to almost perfection.
For Air Force SC ‘A’, winger Ramitha Himash de Silva, forward Shashika Fernando and Skipper and fly half Nuwan Perera scored one try apiece while Nuwan slotted in the three conversions and the solitary penalty.
Air Force SC Captain Nuwan Perera was adjudged Player-of-the-Tournament.
Sports Minister Namal Rajapaksa and former First Lady Shiranthi Rajapaksa graced the occasion as Chief Guests.

(Cup quarter-finals): CH & FC beat Navy ‘B’ 15-10, Police ‘A’ beat Army Colts 19-5, Air Force SC ‘A’ beat Army ‘A’ 33-17, Navy ‘A’ beat Havelock SC 31-0.
(Cup Semi-finals): Police SC ‘A’ beat CH & FC 17-14, Air Force SC ‘A’ beat Navy SC ‘A’ 12-7.
(Cup final): Air Force SC ‘A’ beat Police SC ‘A’ 24-0.
