Air Force SC clinched the Women’s ‘A’ Division title when they beat Army SC 28/24 in the Eva All Island Netball tournament conducted by Western Province Netball Association played at Air Force grounds Slave Island yesterday.
It was a very good tournament which was played in a carnival atmosphere at the Air Force grounds. Air Force SC won the Eva Challenge Trophy after a thrilling final.
The men’s open Netball event saw United SC beat Anuradhapura SC in the final. In the junior girls’ events under 15, 17, and 19 was dominated by Holy Family Convent Kurunegala which clinched all three age group titles.
The exhibition game was women’s veteran event which ended with Speed Birds SC and Police SC becoming joint champions.
The finals were interrupted by rain but the organisers completed this two-day event successfully.
Sandya Rajapaksa the President and Rio Ramlan the Secretary and other officials of the Western Province Netball Association organised this two-day annual event with the support of ICL Brands Pvt Ltd the makers of Eva. The Group Director of ICL Brands Pvt Ltd Shanthi Bagirathan was the chief guest and gave away the main awards.
