All Island Table Tennis Championship from Dec. 29-30

The All Island Intermediate and Novices Table Tennis championship is scheduled to be held today and tomorrow (29-30) at the Municipal Council Indoor Stadium in Kandy.

The Umpires Committee of the Table Tennis Association of Sri Lanka (TTASL) organised this tournament. This will provide an excellent opportunity for Novices and Intermediate paddlers to showcase their talents.

The two-day event will feature Intermediate men’s and women’s singles, as well as Novices men’s and women’s singles events for age groups under 7, 9, 11, 13, 15, 17, and 19, for both boys and girls. Over 700 entries have been received for this tournament.

Umpires Workshop

Meanwhile, the organisers conducted a special umpires workshop yesterday at the Ratnasiri Wickramanayake Memorial Training Centre in Hantana, Kandy. This one-day umpires workshop was valuable as a skill development programme and a level upgrade examination was conducted for the TT umpires. It marked the first time that the TTASL umpires committee organized such a programme in Kandy.
