All tourist destinations in SL safe for foreign tourists – SLTDA and SLTPB
The Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA) and Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau (SLTPB) stated that all tourist destinations in Sri Lanka are safe and secure for foreign tourists who are already in the country and those who plan to arrive in the country.
The SLTDA and SLTPB further stated that all necessary steps have been taken to inform the international community that all tourist destinations in Sri Lanka are open for tourists.
SLTPB Chairman Buddhika Hewawasam said that no foreign tourists who have recently arrived in Sri Lanka have had any problems regarding safety and security.
Hewawasam further said that presently, there are not many Israeli tourists residing in Sri Lanka.
Public Security Minister Vijitha Herath said on Thursday (24) at a special press conference held to brief on the security situation in the country for foreign tourists said that the travel advisories imposed by USA and a few other countries could be removed in two or three days’ time as the country’s security situation has been completely restored and as the embassies are fully satisfied with the measures taken by the Sri Lankan Government to ensure the safety and security of foreign tourists and they have gained confidence on their part to allow their citizens to travel to Sri Lanka.
Minister Herath further said that there has been no stoppage of tourists arriving in Sri Lanka and emphasized that neither USA nor any other country has asked their citizens not to travel to Sri Lanka in their travel advisories.
