Allowances for disabled, low-income earners will continue as before
The Government has decided to allocate provisions for providing the allowance for disabled and low-income people in the same way as before.
According to Finance State Minister Shehan Semasinghe, it has been decided to allocate provisions for the payment of allowances for kidney patients, disabled and low-income earners and elders as before. Finance State Minister Semasinghe stated that until a new payment system is prepared, provisions have been set aside to pay 647,683 people, as before,
under the ‘Aswesuma’ benefit programme, that is, the allowances of kidney patients, disabled and low-income earners and elders will remain unchanged, and the payment will be made in the next few days.
The State Minister mentioned this in a Twitter message issued.
Semasinghe said including the waiting lists, 517,962 people will be given an elders’ allowance, 88,602 people will be paid the disability allowance and 41,119 people will be paid the kidney disease allowance.
It is possible to obtain the Elders’ Allowance through Post Offices and Disability and Kidney Allowances through Divisional Secretariats.
