Alternative lands for families who lost residences due to land acquisition in Hambantota
Alternative lands have to be given to 97 families who have lost their homes due to the Greater Hambantota Development Project. Government land of about 10.11 hectares located in Hambantota Siribopura area has been identified as suitable for that purpose. One hundred and twenty six plots of land have been identified for residential use. Plots have been allocated for 84 families out of the 97 families who have lost their homes.
Taking into account the proposal presented by Urban Development and Housing Minister Prasanna Ranatunga in this regard, the Cabinet decided to allocate land plots from the Government land of about 10.11 hectares located in Siribopura, Hambantota to the families who lost their homes due to the Greater Hambantota Development Project and to issue legal Grants for the said land plots under the guidance of the Land Commissioner General.
