Amantha Perera a knowledgeable rugger player to come out of Vidyartha College, is now in the coaching side of the Air Force rugger side, and from 2017 to date he is one of the Strength and Conditioning coaches and has given his best and is all out to continue his good work. His best support for the game was after joining the Airmen and has many achievements and has polished his rugby . He is a qualified IRB level two person. To come to this position for this Kandy product ruggerite coaches like M. Waffil, Bimal Perera, Lernard de Silva, Nisal Meepage and Gr. Capt Chandana Deepthi has helped in a big way, When he started rugger at Vidyartha College he was well guided by coaches, like Robert Navaratne, Mahinda Ratnayake and Mohamed Faizal who guided him on the correct path to come to this standard. At school he was top class back division player has played as Fly half, Centre and wing-three quarter from 2003 to 2005, straight from school he joined Air Force and played for the side from 2006 to 2013. His main aim is to develop players in technical, tactical, physical capabilities. He is sure to provide guidance to help the ruggerites. He is keen to give a big hand to his school where he learnt the game and he should be thankful to his mother Chithra Perara for supporting him in a big way to come up to this standard.

Kandy – Police match

Kandy’s rugby lovers look out for a good game of rugby on Sunday, when table leaders Kandy Sports Club will host Police at NIttawela in their third match of the season. It is going to be Kandy SC’s backs and vs Police forwaeds All in all should be a good game of rugby and this game will be refereed by Ishanka Abeyakoon, who has just returned from Hong Kong after refereeing in the junior Asiad rugby tournament. At one time Police did well in the game and have won the league title on 12 occasions. This time Police side is coached by one of the former Kandy SC players Nilfer Ibrahim, who has done his best and is sure to put the Cops back in form. This time Policemen are with some fresh talents in their ranks are looking to build up their side.
