Ambalanthota – Ridiyagama road near collapse as Walawa river bank erodes

Villagers said that no remedial action has been taken by the authorities, despite numerous complaints to the Ambalanthota Divisional Secretariat, Ambalanthota Pradeshiya Sabha and the Irrigation Engineers Office, regarding the impending damage to the Ambalanthota-Ridiyagama road due to the erosion of the Walawa river bank.

They said the river bank was just a few feet away from the road, near the Bolana North junction, as the river bank continues to erode at a rapid rate.
